Ke Ga Lighthouse and the Cham Towers

This is the smallest group of tours in Mui Ne and the only one with history in it. The Ke Ga lighthouse was built by the French at the end of the nineteenth century and stands on a rocky islet a few hundred metres off the cape. The Po Shanu Cham towers sit on a hillside about six kilometres west of Mui Ne, three ninth-century brick towers in ruins, looking down over Phan Thiet. Several tours add the city’s fish sauce museum.

Good to know: The lighthouse is on an island, and whether you actually cross depends on the sea and on the boatmen that day — ask what happens if the crossing is off, because some tours then only view it from the shore. Eight offers is a thin field and most of them are full-day private tours, which is why this is the most expensive category on the site. The towers take half an hour; do not book a whole day for them alone.

Frequently asked questions

Sunrise or sunset — which dune tour should I book?

Most operators sell the same route at both times, usually for the same price. Sunrise leaves around 4:30, is cold in an open jeep and gets you the white dunes almost empty. Sunset is comfortable and busy. If you want photographs without other people in them, take the early one.

Are the white dunes and the red dunes the same place?

No, and this is the single most common misunderstanding here. The red dunes are directly behind the village, five minutes away. The white dunes are at Bau Trang, roughly 35 kilometres north-east. Cheaper four-hour tours often cover only the red ones — check the itinerary before booking.

How do I get to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh City?

Mui Ne has no airport. Sleeper buses, shared minibuses and private cars cover the roughly 200 kilometres, and the operators on this site state three to three and a half hours. That is only possible since the expressway opened in 2023, so ignore older sources saying five or six. The train ends at Phan Thiet, not at the beach.

Can I snorkel or dive in Mui Ne?

Not really, and it is better to know that beforehand. The water off Mui Ne carries a lot of sediment and there is no reef worth a trip; the whole inventory here contains no diving and no snorkelling tour. For clear water and coral you need Nha Trang or Phu Quoc.

Can I book kitesurfing through this site?

No. Mui Ne is genuinely one of Asia’s better wind spots between roughly November and March, but the schools sell lessons on the beach and through their own websites rather than through the booking platform we compare. Walk the beach road or contact a school directly.

Do I need a licence for the quad bikes on the dunes?

That depends on the operator, and there is no single local rule we could quote. Requirements for age, licence and helmets are stated on each booking page — read them there rather than assuming. Also ask who recovers the machine if you get stuck; on a plain rental that is usually your problem.
